Van Jones Speech at MPAC 2016 Convention

“The American Muslims have been called to save a great faith and a great nation at the same time...America cannot be America until your community has a place of dignity and honor and respect by every single American. We can’t be what we’re supposed to be until your place is honored.”

Van Jones is the Founder and President of The Dream Corps, and has founded and led numerous social enterprises engaged in social and environmental justice, including Color of Change, Rebuild The Dream, The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, and Green for All, which lifts people out of poverty through green job training and job creation.

Jones is a regular CNN political contributor, a Yale-educated attorney, and the author of two New York Times best-selling books, The Green Collar Economy (2008) and Rebuild the Dream (2012), which chronicles his journey as an environmental and human rights activist to becoming a White House policy adviser. He was the main advocate for the Green Jobs Act, legislation that has resulted in $500 million in national funding for green jobs training.

Speech delivered on December 11, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California during the MPAC Convention.
