Sahih al-Bukhari 97 (Book 3, Hadith 39) #97
Double Reward for Faithful Believers

SUMMARY: Believers of the scriptures who embrace Islam, slaves who are faithful to Allah and their masters, and masters of female slaves who educate them in the best way and then marry them will receive double reward.

Narrated Abu Burda's father: Allah's Messenger said "Three persons will have a double reward: I A Person from the people of the scriptures who believed in his prophet (Jesus or Moses) and then believed in the Prophet Muhammad (i .e. has embraced Islam). II A slave who discharges his duties to Allah and his master. III A master of a woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible way (the religion) and manumits her and then marries her".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about three types of people that will receive a double reward from Allah. The first type is a person from the people of scriptures, such as Jews or Christians, who believed in their prophet such as Jesus or Moses and then embraced Islam. The second type is a slave who faithfully serves his master while also being devoted to Allah. Lastly, it speaks about a master of a female slave who educates her in the best possible way according to Islamic teachings and then manumits her before marrying her. This hadith teaches us that those with faith in God will be rewarded for their devotion regardless of their social status or background. It also encourages us to treat our slaves with kindness by educating them properly before setting them free if we can afford it.
