Follow God's teachings; abstain from luxury items; focus attention on afterlife rewards

This hadith is narrated by Ibn Abi Laila, who recounts a story of Hudhayfah while he was at Mada'in. He asked for water and the chief of the village brought him a silver vessel. Hudhaifa threw it away because he had told him not to use it but he did not listen. The Prophet then forbade Muslims from wearing clothes made of silk or Dibaj, which is a type of fabric, as well as drinking from gold or silver utensils. He explained that these items are meant for unbelievers in this world and will be given to Muslims in the Hereafter instead. This hadith teaches us that we should abstain from luxury items such as expensive clothing and utensils made out of precious metals like gold and silver since they are meant only for those who do not believe in God's teachings here on Earth. We should focus our attention on what we can gain after death rather than what we can have now while living on Earth.
