Sahih al-Bukhari 5397 (Book 70, Hadith 25) #5171
Satisfaction with Little Food

SUMMARY: A believer is satisfied with a little food, while a non-believer eats much.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man used to eat much, but when he embraced Islam, he started eating less. That was mentioned to the Prophet who then said, "A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food) and a Kafir eats in seven intestines (eats much)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the difference between believers and non-believers in terms of eating habits. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that a believer eats in one intestine, meaning they are satisfied with little food, while a non-believer eats in seven intestines, meaning they eat much more than necessary. This hadith teaches us to be content and grateful for what we have been given and not to overindulge ourselves in food or other worldly pleasures. It also encourages us to be mindful of our consumption and not waste resources unnecessarily. Furthermore, it reminds us that faith can bring about positive changes in our lives by helping us become more conscious of our actions and how they affect others around us.
