Sahih al-Bukhari 4519 (Book 65, Hadith 44) #4305
Trading During Hajj Season

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that trading in certain markets was considered a sin during the Pre-Islamic period, but Allah revealed a verse allowing it during the Hajj season.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: 'Ukaz, Mijanna and Dhul-Majaz were markets during the Pre-islamic Period. They (ie Muslims) considered it a sin to trade there during the Hajj time (ie season), so this Verse was revealed:-- "There is no harm for you if you seek of the Bounty of your Lord during the Hajj season". (2:198)
