Sahih al-Bukhari 4518 (Book 65, Hadith 43) #4304
The Practice of Hajj-at-Tamatu

SUMMARY: The verse of Hajj-at-Tamatu was revealed in the Quran and it was practiced by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) until his death, but some people expressed their own opinion that it was illegal.

Narrated 'Imran bin Husain: The Verse of Hajj-at-Tamatu was revealed in Allah's Book, so we performed it with Allah's Messenger , and nothing was revealed in Qur'an to make it illegal, nor did the Prophet prohibit it till he died. But the man (who regarded it illegal) just expressed what his own mind suggested.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow what has been prescribed by Allah and His Messenger; Be careful not to pass judgement on something without having proper knowledge; Do not follow your own opinions or suggestions
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the practice of Hajj-at-Tamatu which is a type of pilgrimage to Mecca. It states that this practice was revealed in Allah's book and performed by Prophet Muhammad until his death. However some people suggested that it should be prohibited even though there were no verses in the Quran to make it illegal. This hadith teaches us to follow what has been prescribed by Allah and His Messenger instead of following our own opinions or suggestions. We should also be careful not to pass judgement on something without having proper knowledge about it first.
