Prohibiting Continuous Fasting

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prohibited observing continuous fasts beyond one day, and explained that he was given to eat and drink from Allah.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah prohibited observing continuous fasts beyond one day. The Companions submitted: "But you do it". He replied, "I am not like you. I am given to eat and to drink (from Allah)". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
وعن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ نهى رسول الله عن الوصال‏.‏ قالوا ‏:‏إنك تواصل‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏ "‏إني لست مثلكم، إني أُطعم وأُسقى‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏ ، وهذا لفظ البخاري‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of fasting continuously for more than one day. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explained that he was not like the rest of his companions as he was given to eat and drink from Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should not overburden ourselves with fasting or any other religious practice as it can lead to exhaustion and burnout. We should strive for balance in our lives by taking breaks in between our worship so we can stay healthy both physically and spiritually.
