Eating and Drinking While Walking or Standing

SUMMARY: Eating and drinking while walking and standing is permissible in Islam.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: During the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah we would eat while walking and would drink while standing. At- Tirmidhi.
وعن ابن عمر رضى الله عنهما قال‏:‏كنا نأكل على عهد رسول الله ونحن نمشى ، ونشرب ونحن قيام‏.‏((رواه الترمذي))

EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith narrated by Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them), it is permissible to eat and drink while walking or standing. This means that one does not have to sit down in order to eat or drink. This hadith teaches us the importance of being mindful of our actions even when we are doing something as simple as eating or drinking. It also shows us that we should not waste time unnecessarily but instead use our time wisely by multitasking when possible. Furthermore, it teaches us the importance of being respectful towards others even when we are eating or drinking; for example, if someone else is present then it would be more appropriate to sit down rather than stand up while eating or drinking.
