Pay your zakat when you are financially able

This hadith explains the importance of paying zakat on one's wealth. It tells us that if we do not pay zakat, a bald headed snake will appear to us on the Day of Resurrection and encircle our neck. The verse from the Book of Allah that is mentioned in this hadith further emphasizes this point by saying that those who withhold their wealth should not think it is good for them.
