The Permissibility of Cupping During Fasting

SUMMARY: Cupping does not break the fast of the person who is cupping or being cupped.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: 'The Cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast".

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform cupling while fasting if necessary

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Abu Hurairah explains that it is permissible to perform cupping while fasting. Cupping, also known as hijamah, is a traditional medical practice in which a cup is placed on the skin and suctioned to create a vacuum. This hadith teaches us that even though this practice may be uncomfortable, it does not break one's fast and they can still continue their sawm without any interruption. It also shows us that Islam allows for modern medical practices to be used while fasting as long as they do not involve consuming food or drink.

This hadith also serves as an example of how Islamic teachings are flexible and accommodating when it comes to modern medicine and treatments. It shows us that we should always strive to use our knowledge in order to improve our health without compromising our religious obligations such as fasting during Ramadan or other times throughout the year.
