Applying Kohl While Fasting

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad applied kohl to his eyes while fasting.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah applied kohl to his eyes while he was fasting".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّقِيِّ، هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْحِمْصِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْدِيُّ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتِ: اكْتَحَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad applied kohl to his eyes while he was fasting. This shows us that even though the Prophet was fasting, he still took care of himself and made sure to look presentable. It also teaches us that we should take care of ourselves and our appearance even when we are in a state of worship or devotion. We can also learn from this hadith that it is permissible for Muslims to apply kohl while they are fasting, as long as they do not swallow it or let it enter their bodies in any way. This hadith also serves as an example for us on how we should conduct ourselves during times of worship and devotion, by taking care of our physical appearance without compromising our spiritual goals.
