Facing the Qiblah When Defecating or Urinating

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade people from facing either of the two Qiblah when defecating or urinating.

It was narrated that Ma'qil bin Abu Ma'qil Al-Asadi, who was a Companion of the Prophet, said: "The Messenger of Allah forbade us from facing either of the two Qiblah when defecating or urinating".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be respectful and mindful of your actions even in private moments like using restroom so that you can remain close to Allah at all times .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Muslims should behave when they are relieving themselves. The Prophet Muhammad forbade people from facing either of the two Qiblah when defecating or urinating. This means that Muslims should not face towards Mecca, which is known as the Kaaba, while they are using the restroom. This is because it is disrespectful to turn away from Allah and face something else while in such a vulnerable position. Instead, Muslims should turn away from both directions and find a place where they can relieve themselves without disrespecting Allah in any way. It teaches us to be respectful and mindful of our actions even in private moments like this one so that we can remain close to Allah at all times.
