Jami at-Tirmidhi 3289 (Book 47, Hadith 341) #28938
Splitting of the Moon

SUMMARY: The moon was split into two parts during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, and some people accused him of casting a spell on them.

Narrated Muhammad bin Jubair bin Mut'im: from his father who said: "The moon was split during the time of the Messenger of Allah until it became as two sections, one above this mountain and one above that mountain. So they said: 'Muhammad has cast a spell upon us'. Some of them said: 'If he could cast a spell upon us, he can not cast a spell upon all of the people'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in Allah's power & mercy, Do not accuse anyone without proof or evidence

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an event that happened during the time of Prophet Muhammad in which he was accused by some people of casting a spell on them. It is said that the moon split into two parts, one above one mountain and one above another mountain. Some people were so amazed by this event that they thought it must have been caused by magic or a spell casted by Prophet Muhammad himself. However, others argued that if he could cast such a powerful spell then he would be able to do it to all people and not just some individuals. This hadith teaches us to never doubt Allah's power and His ability to perform miracles through His prophets as He wills it. We should also remember not to accuse anyone without proof or evidence as this can lead us astray from our faith in Allah's power and mercy.
