Sahih al-Bukhari 2624 (Book 51, Hadith 56) #2510
Keeping Good Relations with Non-Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) advised Asma' bint Abu Bakr (ra) to keep good relations with her mother, even though she was a polytheist.

Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr (ra): My mother came to me during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger and she was a Mushrikah (polytheist, idolatress, pagan). I said to Allah's Messenger (seeking his verdict), "My mother has come to and she desires to receive a reward from me, shall I keep good relations with her ?" The Prophet said, "Yes, keep good relation with her".
