The Power of Modesty

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of modesty and how it brings peace and dignity.

Abu Qatadah said : We were sitting with 'Imran b. Hussain and Bushair b. Ka'b was also there'.Imran b. Hussain reported the Messenger of Allah as saying: Modesty is good altogether, or he said: Modesty is altogether good. Bushair b. Ka'b said : We find in some books that there is a modesty which produces peace and dignified bearing, and there is a modesty which produces weakness'.Imran b. Hussain repeated the same words. So 'Imran became angry so much so that his eyes became red, and he said : Don’t you see that I am transmitting a tradition from the Messenger of Allah and you are mentioning something from your books? He (Qatadah) said : We said : Abu Nujaid, it is sufficient.

Be humble & modest in all aspects of life so you can bring peace into your life & those around you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power of modesty in our lives. It was narrated by Abu Qatadah who was sitting with Imran b. Hussain when Bushair b. Ka'b was also present. Imran reported that the Messenger of Allah said that "modesty is good altogether". Bushair then mentioned something from his books which made Imran angry as he felt that he was transmitting a tradition from the Messenger of Allah and Bushair was speaking from his own books instead. Abu Qatadah then intervened to calm down the situation by saying "it is sufficient". This hadith teaches us that modesty is an important virtue which brings peace and dignified bearing in our lives, and we should not forget this important lesson even if we have knowledge from other sources such as books or other people's opinions. We should always remember to be humble and modest in all aspects of life so that we can bring peace into our lives as well as those around us.
