Spitting Etiquette in the Mosque

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to spit in the mosque, and if one does so, they should cover it with earth or spit into their clothes.

Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah said: if anyone enters the mosque, and spits in it, or ejects phlegm, he should remove some earth and bury it there. If he does not do so, then he should spit in his clothes and not come out with it.

Respect places of worship; Clean up after yourself; Be mindful of your actions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the etiquette of spitting in a mosque. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that it is not permissible to spit inside a mosque as it is considered disrespectful. If one does so, they should cover it with some earth or else they should spit into their clothes and not leave the mosque with it on them. This hadith also teaches us about respect for places of worship and how we must maintain cleanliness when visiting them. We must remember that mosques are places of peace and tranquility where people come to pray and seek guidance from Allah SWT, therefore we must be mindful of our actions when entering these sacred spaces.
