Punishment for Stealing and Killing

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised some people from Uraina to drink the milk of his camels to cure their illness, but they instead killed the herdsman and stole the camels. As a result, they were punished for their actions.

It was narrated that Anas said: "Some people from Uraina came to the Messenger of Allah SAW, but the climate of Al-Madinah did not suit them. The Messenger of Allah SAW said to them: 'Why don't you go out to our camels and drink their milk?'" - (one of the narrators) Qatadah said: 'And their urine'. - "So they went out to the camels of the Messenger of Allah SAW, but when they recovered they killed the herdsman of the Messenger of Allah SAW, who was a believer, and drove off the camels of the Messenger of Allah SAW, and left as those at war. He sent (men) after them and they were caught. Then he had their hands and feet cut off, and branded their eyes".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people from Uraina who came to visit the Prophet Muhammad in Madinah. Unfortunately, they did not like the climate there and so he suggested that they drink milk from his camels as a remedy. Instead of following his advice, however, they killed one of his herdsmen and stole all of his camels. As punishment for their actions, he had their hands and feet cut off and branded their eyes. This hadith teaches us that we should always obey Allah's commands even if it seems difficult or inconvenient at first because disobedience will lead to severe consequences in this world as well as in the hereafter. We should also be mindful not to commit any crimes such as theft or murder because these are serious offenses that will be punished accordingly by Allah's justice system.
