Sunan an-Nasai 1819 (Book 21, Hadith 2) #16430
The Value of Life

SUMMARY: We should not wish for death, as it is possible that a person who does evil may repent and do good.

It was narrated from Abu Ubaid the freed slave of 'Abdur-Rahman bin Awf that he heard Abu Huraidah say: 'None of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good, so if he lives he will do more good or he is a doer of evil but perhaps he will give up his evil ways"'.
