It was narrated from Anas that: The Prophet ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, would start their recitation with: "All the praise and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of all that exists.
This hadith also teaches us the importance of humility when praying to God. Even though the Prophet Muhammad was one of the most important people in history, he still humbled himself before God by beginning his prayers with words of praise and thanksgiving instead of asking directly for what he wanted or needed from Him. We should follow this example by humbling ourselves before God when we pray so that He may grant us whatever it is we seek from Him.
