The Joy of Charity

SUMMARY: The first donation of charity to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was from the Tayyi tribe, which made him and his companions happy.

'Adi b. Hatim reported: I came to Umar b. Khattab and he said to me: The first consignment of Sadaqa brought to Allah's Messenger which brightened the face of Allah's Messenger and the faces of his Companions was that of Tayyi.
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ لِي إِنَّ أَوَّلَ صَدَقَةٍ بَيَّضَتْ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَوُجُوهَ أَصْحَابِهِ صَدَقَةُ طَيِّئٍ جِئْتَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ

This hadith speaks about the joy that comes with giving charity. It is reported that when the first consignment of charity was brought to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the Tayyi tribe, it brightened his face and those of his companions.
