Recognizing Superiority Among Tribes

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the superiority of certain tribes over others and how Allah's Messenger (PBUH) taught people to recognize it.

Abu Bakra reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger said: What is your view if Juhaina, Aslam, Ghifar were better than Banu Tamim, Banu 'Abdullah b. Ghatafan and 'Amir b. Sa'sa'a' respectively (then what would be status of the latter one)? He said this in a loud voice. They said: Allah's Messenger, they would be definitely at a loss and disadvantage. Thereupon he said: They (the first group) are decidedly better than the others; and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu Kuraib the words are: It you were to find that Juhaina, Muzaina and Aslam and Ghifar (are better than.).

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect those who are superior, strive for self-improvement in order to gain respect from others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the superiority of certain tribes over others, as Allah's Messenger asked what would be the status of a group if another group was better than them. The people responded that they would be at a loss and disadvantage, to which Allah's Messenger agreed. This teaches us that we should recognize when one tribe is superior to another, and not deny it or try to ignore it. We should also respect those who are superior in any way, whether it be in knowledge or wealth or anything else. We should also strive to become better ourselves so that we can gain respect from others as well.
