Sahih Muslim 2333b (Book 43, Hadith 117) #13142
Receiving Revelation from Allah

SUMMARY: The hadith explains how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received revelation from Allah.

'A'isha reported that Harith b. Hisham asked Allah's Apostle : How does the the wahi (inspiration) come to you? He said: At times it comes to me like the ringing of a bell and that is most severe for me and when it is over I retain that (what I had received in the form of wahi), and at times an Angel in the form of a human being comes to me (and speaks) and I retain whatever he speaks.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be open to receiving guidance from God
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received revelation from Allah. It is said that at times, he would hear a ringing sound like a bell, which was very difficult for him to bear. At other times, an angel in human form would come to him and speak to him directly, and he would remember whatever was said. This shows us that the revelations sent down by Allah were not just words on a page but were communicated directly to the Prophet (PBUH). We can learn from this that we should always be open to receiving guidance from God in whatever form it may come in our lives.
