Sahih al-Bukhari 90 (Book 3, Hadith 32) #90
Shortening Prayers for the Weak and Needy

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was very angry when he heard that someone was making others dislike the prayer by prolonging it. He advised that whoever leads the people in prayer should shorten it, as there are those who are weak, sick and have other tasks to do.

Narrated Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari: Once a man said to Allah's Messenger "O Allah's Messenger ! I may not attend the (compulsory congregational) prayer because so and so (the Imam) prolongs the prayer when he leads us for it. The narrator added: "I never saw the Prophet more furious in giving advice than he was on that day. The Prophet said, "O people! Some of you make others dislike good deeds (the prayers). So whoever leads the people in prayer should shorten it because among them there are the sick the weak and the needy (having some jobs to do).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be considerate of those who may not be able to attend congregational prayers due to their physical or mental limitations; Shorten your congregational prayers; Make things easier rather than harder on fellow Muslims; Show compassion towards those who are weak or sick; Lead with kindness and mercy instead of anger and frustration.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how important it is to be considerate of those who may not be able to attend congregational prayers due to their physical or mental limitations. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was very angry when he heard that someone was making others dislike the prayer by prolonging it. He advised that whoever leads the people in prayer should shorten it, as there are those who are weak, sick and have other tasks to do. It is important for us to remember this advice and ensure we don't make attending prayers difficult for anyone due to our own selfish desires or lack of consideration for others. We must also remember that Allah will reward us more if we make things easier on our fellow Muslims rather than harder on them.
