Sahih Muslim 59d (Book 1, Hadith 120) #7385
Faith Beyond Actions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught that a person's faith is not judged by their outward actions, but rather by their inner beliefs.

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made observations like them embodied in the hadith narrated by Yahya b. Muhammad on the authority of 'Ala', and added to it: even if he observed fast and prayed and asserted that he was a Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Believe sincerely in your heart; strive for your outer behavior to reflect your inner beliefs; judge yourself and others with humility before God

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught that a person's faith is not judged by their outward actions, such as fasting or praying, but rather by what they believe in their hearts. This means that even if someone does all the right things on the outside, it doesn't necessarily mean they are truly Muslim if they don't have faith in their heart. It is important to remember this lesson when judging others and ourselves; we should focus on our inner beliefs and intentions instead of just our outward actions. We should also strive to make sure our outer behavior reflects our inner beliefs so that we can be true Muslims in both body and soul.
