QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your time during nighttime hours; Respect those who are responsible for calling out the adahn; Prepare yourself for morning prayers.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to properly observe nighttime hours before dawn. The Prophet Muhammad taught that Bilal should call out the adhan, or call to prayer, at night so that people can eat and drink until Ibn Um Maktum calls out the adhan for fajr prayer. This teaches us to be mindful of our time during nighttime hours and not waste it away in activities such as eating or drinking when we should be preparing ourselves for morning prayers. It also teaches us respect for those who are responsible for calling out the adhan at different times of day.
