Afflictions and Satan

SUMMARY: Afflictions come from the side of Satan's head.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: I heard Allah's Messenger while he was facing the East, saying, "Verily! Afflictions are there, from where the side of the head of Satan comes out".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَهْوَ مُسْتَقْبِلٌ الْمَشْرِقَ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ أَلاَ إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Ibn 'Umar and it speaks about afflictions coming from the side of Satan's head. It is believed that when Allah's Messenger was facing the east, he said this statement. The hadith teaches us that afflictions are caused by evil forces such as Satan and we should be aware of them. We should also strive to protect ourselves from these forces by following Islamic teachings and seeking refuge in Allah through prayer and supplication.
