Sahih al-Bukhari 5574 (Book 73, Hadith 30) #5349
Eating the Meat of Sacrifices

SUMMARY: The hadith is about eating the meat of sacrifices for three days and avoiding it after that.

Narrated Salim: 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "Allah's Messenger said, "Eat of the meat of sacrifices (of 'Id al Adha) for three days". When 'Abdullah departed from Mina, he used to eat (bread with) oil, lest he should eat of the meat of Hadi (which is regarded as unlawful after the three days of the 'Id).

QUICK LESSONS:
Eat the meat of sacrifices for three days .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Salim, who heard it from his father Abdullah bin Umar. It talks about eating the meat of sacrifices on 'Id al Adha for three days. After that, one should avoid eating it as it is considered unlawful. 'Abdullah used to eat bread with oil instead of the meat after three days so he would not break this rule. This hadith teaches us to be mindful and follow Allah's commands even in small matters like food consumption. We should also be aware that certain things are only permissible within a certain time frame and must be avoided afterwards.
