Prohibiting Eating Sacrifices for More Than Three Days

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the prohibition of eating the meat of sacrifices for more than three days.

Narrated Abu 'Ubaid: (in continuation of above). Then I witnessed (the 'Its) with 'Ali bin Abi Talib, and he too offered the 'Id prayer before the sermon and then delivered the sermon before the people and said, "Allah's Messenger has forbidden you to eat the meat of your sacrifices for more than three days".
قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ ثُمَّ شَهِدْتُهُ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَصَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَ نُسُكِكُمْ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثٍ‏.‏ وَعَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ نَحْوَهُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu 'Ubaid and it talks about the prohibition of eating the meat of sacrifices for more than three days. It was narrated that when Ali bin Abi Talib offered the 'Id prayer, he delivered a sermon before people and said that Allah's Messenger has forbidden them to eat the meat of their sacrifices for more than three days. This hadith teaches us to obey Allah's commands and follow His prohibitions in order to gain His blessings. We should also be mindful not to overindulge in food or any other materialistic things as it can lead us away from our faith and piety.
