Mercy and Compassion for the Ansar

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed mercy and compassion to the Ansar and their descendants.

Kathir bin 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'Awf narrated from his father: That his grandfather said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'May Allah have mercy on the Ansar, and the children of the Ansar, and the grandchildren of the Ansar'."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ الأَنْصَارَ وَأَبْنَاءَ الأَنْصَارِ وَأَبْنَاءَ أَبْنَاءِ الأَنْصَارِ

The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) mercy and compassion for the Ansar, a group of people who helped him in Medina when he migrated there. He showed them kindness by praying for them to be blessed with mercy from Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should show kindness to those who help us in our lives, no matter how small or big their help may be. We should also remember that Allah is merciful and compassionate towards all of His creation, so we should strive to emulate Him in our own lives as much as possible.
