Praying for Wisdom and Understanding of the Quran

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed to Allah to grant his companion Ibn 'Abbas wisdom and the ability to interpret the Quran correctly.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah embraced me and said: 'O Allah, teach him wisdom and the (correct) interpretation of the Book'."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلاَّدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ ضَمَّنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَتَأْوِيلَ الْكِتَابِ
