Giving Away Drapings as Charity

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar gave away the drapings of his animals as charity when the Kaba was draped with the kiswa.

Yahya related to me from Malik that he asked Abdullah ibn Dinar what Abdullah ibn Umar used to do with the drapings of his animals when the Kaba began to be draped with the kiswa, and he said, "He gave them away as sadaqa".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity generously without expecting anything in return

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about giving away charity and being generous. It tells us that when the Ka'ba was draped with a special cloth called Kiswa, Abdullah ibn Umar gave away the drapings of his animals as sadaqa or charity. Sadaqa is an act of generosity and kindness towards others in need. It can be done in many ways such as donating money or goods to those who are less fortunate than us. This hadith teaches us to be generous and kind to others even if it means sacrificing something we own or value ourselves. We should always remember that Allah rewards those who give sadaqa generously and without expecting anything in return.
