Sacrificing Animals for the Kaba

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar used to drape his sacrificial animals in fine Egyptian linen and send them to the Kaba.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to drape his sacrificial animals in fine Egyptian linen, saddlecloths and sets of clothing, which he would afterwards send to the Kaba and have the Kaba draped with them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with your wealth & use your resources wisely for good causes
EXPLANATIONS:
Abdullah ibn Umar was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he was known for his generosity. He would sacrifice animals such as cows or camels during Hajj and Eid al-Adha. He would then drape these animals with fine Egyptian linen and saddlecloths as well as sets of clothing before sending them off to the Ka’bah in Makkah. This act of charity is an example of how we should be generous with our wealth and give back to those who are less fortunate than us. It also shows us that we should not be wasteful when it comes to our resources but instead use them wisely for good causes like helping others or donating money towards charities.

The Ka’bah is a holy place which Muslims visit during Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage every year so it is important that we show respect by giving back in any way possible whether it be through donations or acts of kindness such as this one done by Abdullah ibn Umar.

This hadith teaches us about the importance of being generous with our wealth and using it wisely for good causes like helping those who are less fortunate than us or donating money towards charities so that everyone can benefit from it equally regardless of their social status or financial standing in society. It also reminds us that we should always show respect when visiting holy places like the Ka’bah by giving back in any way possible whether it be through donations or acts of kindness like this one done by Abdullah ibn Umar.
