Making Up Forgotten Prayers

SUMMARY: It is permissible to make up a prayer that was forgotten after the imam has said the taslim.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say, "Someone who only remembers that he has forgotten a prayer when he is praying the next prayer behind an imam, should pray the prayer he has forgotten after the imam has said the taslim, and then pray the other one again".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember your daily five obligatory prayers . Make sure you don't miss any of your daily obligatory prayers . If you do forget one or two , make sure you make them up afterwards .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that if someone forgets to pray a prayer and only remembers when they are praying behind an imam in the next prayer, then it is permissible for them to make up the forgotten prayer after the imam has said taslim. The term ‘taslim’ refers to when an imam says ‘peace be upon you’ at the end of a prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should always remember our prayers and not forget them as it is important for us to pray all five prayers every day. We should also take care not to miss any of our prayers even if we forget one or two of them as we can still make them up afterwards.
