Musnad Ahmad 1245 (Book 5, Hadith 652) #34878
Time Limit for Wearing Leather Slippers

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) setting a time limit for travelers and non-travelers to wear leather slippers.

It was narrated that Shuraih bin Hani said: I came to 'A'ishah (رضي الله عنها) to ask her about the khuffain (leather slippers). She said: Go to Ibn Abi Talib, for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah . So I went to him and asked him, and he said: The Messenger of Allah set three days and nights for the traveler and one day and night for one who is not travelling.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others’ opinions , Be mindful of your actions , Listen carefully when someone speaks .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on wearing leather slippers. According to this hadith, travelers were allowed to wear leather slippers for three days and nights while non-travelers were only allowed one day and night. This was done in order to protect people from getting too comfortable with their footwear and forgetting that they are still in a state of Ihram or pilgrimage. The lesson here is that we should be mindful of our actions even when we are traveling or not traveling as it can have an effect on our spiritual journey.

The Prophet Muhammad also taught us that we should be respectful of others' opinions even if they differ from ours. In this case, Shuraih bin Hani went to 'A'ishah first before going to Ibn Abi Talib because he wanted her opinion on the matter even though she was not an expert in the field. This teaches us that it is important to respect other people's knowledge and opinions even if they do not match up with our own beliefs or understanding of a certain topic.
