Musnad Ahmad 1246 (Book 5, Hadith 653) #34879
Distraction from Prayer is Cursable

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was disturbed by the enemies on the day of al-Ahzab and he prayed 'Asr between Maghrib and 'Isha'. He then cursed them for distracting him from his prayer.

It was narrated that Shutair bin Shakal al-'Absi said: I heard 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: On the day of al-Ahzab, we prayed 'Asr between Maghrib and 'Isha'. The Prophet said: 'They distracted us from the middle prayer, 'Asr, prayer, may Allah fill their graves and stomachs with fire'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your elders , Pray without getting distracted .

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of al-Ahzab, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was disturbed by his enemies while he was praying 'Asr, which is one of the five daily prayers in Islam. This caused him to pray it between Maghrib and 'Isha', which are two other prayers that are usually prayed at different times. The Prophet ﷺ became angry with those who had distracted him from his prayer and cursed them, saying that Allah should fill their graves and stomachs with fire. This hadith teaches us that we should not be distracted when we are praying as it is a serious offense in Islam, so much so that even Allah's Messenger ﷺ cursed those who did it to him. We must also remember to always respect our elders, especially if they are religious figures like prophets or scholars as they have been chosen by Allah for a special purpose.
