The Importance of Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was displeased with those who distracted him from the middle prayer until the sun set.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah said on the day of al-Khandaq: 'What is wrong with them? May Allah fill their houses and graves with fire as they distracted us from the middle prayer until the sun set".
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيْدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ مَا لَهُمْ مَلَأَ اللَّهُ بُيُوتَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا كَمَا حَبَسُونَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَابَتْ الشَّمْسُ‏.‏
