Musnad Ahmad 593 (Book 5, Hadith 30) #34256
Sharing Sacrificial Meat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad instructed Ali to share out the meat of his sacrifice and not to give the butcher anything from it.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah instructed me to share out the meat of his sacrifice and to be in charge of it, and to share out its skin and blankets, and he instructed me not to give the butcher anything of it and said: 'We will give him something ourselves".

QUICK LESSONS:
Share sacrificial meat among those in need
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad was teaching his companion Ali a lesson in charity and generosity. He instructed him to share out the meat of his sacrifice among those who were in need and not to give any of it away as payment for the butcher's services. This hadith teaches us that we should be generous with our resources and use them for good causes rather than giving them away as payment or reward for services rendered. We should also remember that Allah is watching over us and will reward us accordingly if we are generous with our resources.
