Forbidden Practices at Khaibar

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade Mutah marriage and the meat of donkeys at the time of Khaibar.

It was narrated that 'Ali said to Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما): The Messenger of Allah forbade mut’ah marriage and the meat of donkeys at the time of Khaibar.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ابْنَيْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا، وَكَانَ، حَسَنٌ أَرْضَاهُمَا فِي أَنْفُسِنَا أَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَالَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ نِكَاحِ الْمُتْعَةِ وَعَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad forbade two practices during his time in Khaibar; temporary marriage known as mutah and eating donkey meat. Temporary marriage is a type of union between two people for a limited period of time with certain conditions agreed upon by both parties. Eating donkey meat was also forbidden by the Prophet during this period in history. These prohibitions were put in place to protect people from any harm or danger that could arise from these activities. The teachings found in this hadith are important for Muslims to remember as they remind us to follow the guidance given by our beloved Prophet Muhammad and abstain from any activities that may be harmful or dangerous to ourselves or others around us.
