Musnad Ahmad 325 (Book 2, Hadith 231) #34006
Kissing the Black Stone

SUMMARY: Umar saw the Prophet kissing the Black Stone and followed suit, even though he knew it was just a stone.

It was narrated that 'Abis bin Rabee’ah said: I saw 'Umar go to the Black Stone and say: By Allah, I know that you are a stone and cannot cause harm or bring benefit. Were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah kiss you, I would not have kissed you. Then he leant down and kissed it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow in our prophet's footsteps & emulate his actions as much as possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Abis bin Rabeeah tells us about an incident involving Umar and the Black Stone. The Black Stone is a sacred object located in Mecca, which Muslims kiss during their pilgrimage to Hajj. In this hadith, we learn that when Umar saw the Prophet Muhammad kissing it, he followed suit even though he knew it was just a stone and could not cause harm or bring benefit. This teaches us that we should follow in our Prophet's footsteps and emulate his actions as much as possible. It also shows us how important it is to respect religious symbols and traditions even if they don't make sense to us at first glance.
