Perfecting Wudu for Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad saw a man performing wudu for Zuhr prayer and noticed he had missed a spot the size of a toenail. He advised him to go back and do his wudu properly before praying.

It was narrated from Jabir that 'Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه told him that the Messenger of Allah saw a man doing wudoo' to pray Zuhr, and he missed a spot the size of a toenail. The Messenger of Allah saw him and said: 'Go back and do your wudoo' properly' So he went back and did wudoo', then he prayed.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَى رَجُلًا تَوَضَّأَ لِصَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ فَتَرَكَ مَوْضِعَ ظُفُرٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمِهِ فَأَبْصَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ارْجِعْ فَأَحْسِنْ وُضُوءَكَ فَرَجَعَ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of perfecting one's wudu before prayer. It was narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari that Umar bin al-Khattab told him that the Prophet Muhammad saw a man doing wudu for Zuhr prayer but noticed he had missed a spot the size of a toenail. The Prophet advised him to go back and do his wudu properly before praying. This teaches us that we should take care in performing our ablutions correctly so as not to miss any part of it when preparing for prayer. We should strive for perfection in all aspects of our lives including our worship so as not to miss out on any blessings from Allah SWT.
