Musnad Ahmad 152 (Book 2, Hadith 69) #33844
The Prophecy of Makkah's Population

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) predicted that the people of Makkah will leave and no one will come to it, but eventually it will be filled and built up again.

It was narrated from Jabir that Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه told him that he heard the Messenger of Allah say: ' The people of Makkah will leave and no one will come to it-or no one will come to it except a few-then it will be filled and built up, then they will leave it and never return to it'.
