Musnad Ahmad 154 (Book 2, Hadith 71) #33846
Praising the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against praising him in the same way that Christians praised Jesus (PBUH). He reminded people that he was only a slave of Allah and His Messenger.

It was narrated from Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not praise me as the Christians praised Eesa bin Maryam عليه السلام. I am no more than the slave of Allah and His Messenger'.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is warning his followers against praising him in an excessive manner. He reminds them that he is no more than a slave of Allah and His Messenger, just like Jesus was a slave of God. This hadith teaches us to be humble and not to overpraise anyone, even if they are prophets or messengers from God. We should remember that all prophets are only human beings who have been chosen by God to deliver His message to mankind. We should also remember that we too can become slaves of Allah by following His commands and worshipping Him alone.
