Musnad Ahmad 29 (Book 1, Hadith 29) #33727
Taking Responsibility for Actions

SUMMARY: People should take responsibility for their own actions and stop others from doing wrong, or else Allah will punish them all.

It was narrated that Qais said: Abu Bakr stood up and praised and glorified Allah, then he said:O people, you recite this verse: 'O you who believe! Take care of your own selves'. (al-Ma’idah 5:105 until he reached the end of the verse. But if the people see an evildoer and do not stop him, soon Allah will send His punishment upon them all. But I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "If the people". And on another occasion he said: We heard the Messenger of Allah.
