Sunan Ibn Majah 4226 (Book 37, Hadith 127) #33582
The Rewards of Good Deeds

SUMMARY: Doing good deeds should be done both in secret and openly, as it will bring two rewards.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I do a good deed, then others find out about it and that pleases me.’ He said: 'You will have two rewards, the reward for doing it in secret and the reward for doing it openly (so that others may follow your example).’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Do Good Deeds .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of doing good deeds. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that a man asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about what happens when he does a good deed and others find out about it, to which the Prophet ﷺ replied that he will receive two rewards; one for doing it in secret and one for doing it openly so that others may follow his example. This hadith teaches us that we should not only do good deeds but also encourage others to do them as well, so that we can benefit from both rewards. Doing something in secret means without expecting any recognition or reward from people, while doing something openly means with the intention of inspiring others to do the same thing. Both are important because they help us become better people and benefit society at large.
