Sahih al-Bukhari 3473 (Book 60, Hadith 140) #3318
Handling Plague According to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the plague and how to handle it. It advises not to approach a land where the plague has spread, and if one is already present in a land where the plague appears, then they should not leave that land.

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Messenger said, "Plague was a means of torture sent on a group of Israelis (or on some people before you). So if you hear of its spread in a land, don't approach it, and if a plague should appear in a land where you are present, then don't leave that land in order to run away from it (ie plague).

QUICK LESSONS:
Have patience during difficult times; Have faith; Help those affected by disasters; Do not run away out of fear or panic

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised people on how to handle the plague when it appears in a certain land. He said that if one hears of its spread in another land, they should not approach it. If someone is already present in a land where the plague appears, then they should not leave that land in order to run away from it. This hadith teaches us that we must be patient and brave during difficult times such as plagues or other disasters. We must also have faith that Allah will protect us from harm and provide us with strength during these times of hardship. Furthermore, this hadith encourages us to help those who are affected by disasters such as plagues by providing them with aid or support instead of running away from them out of fear or panic.
