Avoiding Use of Untanned Skin and Sinew of Dead Animals

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ (saying) advised not to make use of the untanned skin and sinew of dead animals.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Ukaym said: "There came to us a letter from the Prophet (saying): 'No not make use of the untanned skin and sinew of dead animals.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ، قَالَ أَتَانَا كِتَابُ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ أَنْ لاَ تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ بِإِهَابٍ وَلاَ عَصَبٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about avoiding the use of untanned skin and sinews from dead animals. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Ukaaym that he received a letter from the Prophet advising against this practice. The Prophet's advice is important as it teaches us to be mindful about how we treat animals even after they have died. We should respect their bodies and not take advantage of them in any way.
