Keep dogs responsibly and with respect so that we may benefit from them without compromising on religious obligations .

This hadith explains that keeping a dog can reduce one's reward for good deeds, as stated by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. However, if the dog is kept for the purpose of agriculture or protection of livestock, then there will be no reduction in rewards.
