Sunan Ibn Majah 2208 (Book 12, Hadith 72) #31560
The Consequences of Unethical Behaviour

SUMMARY: Allah will not speak to, look at, or purify those who let their garments hang beneath their ankles, remind others of what they have given them, and sell products by means of false oaths on the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated from Abu Dharr that the Prophet said: "There are three to whom Allah will not speak on the Day of Resurrection nor will He look at them or purify them, and theirs will be a painful torment". I said: "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah? For they are indeed losers". He said: "The one who lets his garment hang beneath his ankles, the one who reminds another of what he has given him, and the one who sells his product by means of false oaths".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of unethical behaviour. It was narrated from Abu Dharr that the Prophet said that there are three people who will be punished severely on the Day of Resurrection. These people are those who let their garment hang beneath their ankles, remind another person about what they have given them and those who sell products by means of false oaths. Allah will not speak to these people nor look at them or purify them and they will suffer a painful torment as a result. This hadith teaches us that we should be careful with our behaviour as it can lead to severe punishment in the hereafter if it is unethical or wrong in any way. We should also remember that Allah knows all our actions and He is watching us even when no one else is around so we must always strive to do good deeds and stay away from bad ones in order for us to receive His mercy on the Day of Judgement.
