Sunan Ibn Majah 1181 (Book 5, Hadith 379) #30533
The Proper Way to Call Upon Allah

SUMMARY: When calling upon Allah, one should do so with the palms of their hands facing upwards and when finished, wipe their face with them.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When you call upon Allah, then do so with the palms of your hands (upwards). Do not do so with the back of your hands (upwards). And when you finish, then wipe your face with them.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Call upon Allah with your palms facing upwards .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the proper way to call upon Allah. We are instructed to raise our palms towards the sky when supplicating and then use those same hands to wipe our faces afterwards. This is a sign of humility and respect for Allah as we are showing that we are in need of His mercy and grace. It also serves as a reminder that whatever we ask for from Him will be granted if it is good for us in this life or the hereafter. Furthermore, it teaches us that even though we may not always get what we want, He will always provide us with something better than what we asked for if it is within His will.
