Serving the Prophet with Water

SUMMARY: The Prophet was served water by Safwan bin 'Assal for ablution while travelling and living in Medina.

It was narrated that Safwan bin 'Assal said: "I poured water for the Prophet on journeys and as a resident, when he performed ablution".
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي حُذَيْفَةُ بْنُ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ الأَزْدِيُّ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ، قَالَ صَبَبْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ الْمَاءَ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْحَضَرِ فِي الْوُضُوءِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of service to others, particularly to those who are respected and revered. It was narrated that Safwan bin 'Assal said he poured water for the Prophet on journeys and as a resident, when he performed ablution. This means that even though the Prophet was a great leader, he still needed help from his followers in order to perform his daily rituals such as wudu’ or ablution. This hadith teaches us that we should always be willing to help others regardless of their status or position in society. We should also be humble enough to accept help from others when we need it. Furthermore, this hadith also highlights the importance of cleanliness and hygiene which is essential for spiritual purity as well as physical health.
